What's Growing at Old 99 Farm

In September 200 I started a permaculture site, pastured beef and poultry farm and market garden operation here in Dundas Ontario. My produce will be available online via old99farm.locallygrown.net to subscribers.
In 2008 we had a bountiful first season in the vegetable and berry gardens, with limited pest pressure and excellent growing conditions.

In 2009 I planted a mixed fruit orchard planting (22 species), put up two greenhouses for season extension, and pasture fencing for our herd of heritage Canadian Lineback cattle.

In 2010 I expanded the chicken operation to include a movable chicken coop for layers on pasture, and raised roasting chickens, also on pasture. The greenhouses worked well all winter 09/10 with good crops of carrots, beet tops, chard and lettuces. The Lineback herd increased by four calves. Muscovy ducks, Light Sussex and Welsumer chicken flocks all increased.
